Kao appoints Christian Melcher as Chief Marketing Officer of its global salon business

Kao appoints Christian Melcher as Chief Marketing Officer of its global salon business. Industry expert Christian Melcher is the new Global Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for KAO’s salon business. This was announced by the Japanese consumer goods manufacturer. In this newly created position, Melcher will lead the brand development, marketing, digital and communications activities for the professional salon brands Goldwell, KMS and Kerasilk. He will support the company’s growth strategy to become the global leader in salon hair colour and luxury hair care. He will also play a key role in accelerating Kao’s digital and e-commerce strategies.

Christian Melcher previously served as Corporate Vice President D2C at Henkel Beauty Care

Melcher has more than 20 years of international experience in marketing, sales and management in the beauty and salon industry. In his last position as Corporate Vice President D2C, he led the global D2C activities of Henkel’s Beauty Care business. The track record of his career is thus based on his ability to build strong brands and strong teams, as well as to generate growth through innovation and excellent market execution. In his role, the new CMO will thereby become a member of the Global Salon Leadership Team of the Kao Salon Division. He will report to Dominic Pratt, Global President Kao Salon Division.
