Firmenich appoints Bérangère Magarinos-Ruchat as Global Head of Sustainability – Firmenich is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Bérangère Magarinos-Ruchat as Global Head of Sustainability. In this new capacity, she will reinforce Firmenich leadership in sustainability.

Most recently VP Sustainability Partnerships, a position that she held since 2010, Bérangère has established numerous strategic collaborations for Firmenich to address key societal challenges such as, Hygiene & Sanitation, Health & Nutrition and Biodiversity. To scale up Firmenich’s impact, she built unique partnerships with like-minded organizations such as The Toilet Board Coalition, Livelihoods Funds, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, The World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), Forum for the Future, UN Global Compact and many others.
Most recently, at this year’s World Water Week in Stockholm, Bérangère was elected Vice Chairman of the Toilet Board Coalition to address today’s global sanitation crisis through sustainable business solutions. Under her visionary leadership, Firmenich, a founding member of the Toilet Board Coalition, is committed to being part of shaping a new sanitation economy.
Furthermore, this year, Bérangère was recognized by the WBCSD’s Leading Women Awards for her leadership in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). Also in 2015, she was named Head of Sustainability of the Year by Ethical Corporation.
Dr. Magarinos-Ruchat joined the United Nations System Staff College in 1998 where she led the Partners in Action Program working in more than 20 countries. In 2004 she joined the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition, where she was the Director of Partnerships. In that position she created the GAIN Business Alliance, a global network of Food and Beverage companies interested in nutrition issues. Dr. Magarinos-Ruchat has a PhD in International Relations from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University, New York, as well as a postgraduate in Public Private Partnership Management from Cambridge University and a postgraduate in Social Innovation from Stanford. She is a Founding Board Member of the Toilet Board Coalition and sits on the Investment Committee of the Livelihood Funds as well as the Steering Committee of the Juice CSR Platform. In 2016, Bérangère joined the Swisscontact Board of Trustees.
